Casa di Gloria is a lovely terraced house situated in the
centuries old Fattoria Scopeto which rests on top of a hill enjoying a fine
view of San Gimignano in the distance. Originally a group of traditional
Tuscan farmhouses, Scopeto has recently been restored and divided into
traditional terraced houses and a few apartments, some like Casa di Gloria
which are rented, and others owned by italian families who enjoy them as
weekend country retreats. The enclosed grounds of the estate are full of
mature trees and a large swimming pool (15m x 8m) enjoying lovely views of
the surrounding countryside has been added.
Casa di Gloria is a fine house, its entrance on the ground
floor leads to the lovely living room with original terracotta vaulted
ceiling and a characteristic fireplace surrounded by settees and an
armchair. The owner who has artistic flair has added lots of homely touches
to make the house very comfortable and welcoming. There is a pleasant dining
area in the living room, a separate fully equipped kitchen, and just off the
kitchen the owner has also added a handy second shower room. Upstairs, a
corridor lined with pretty pictures, leads to three nicely furnished
bedrooms, a master bedroom with a large double bed, another with a slightly
smaller double bed and a third with single bed, as well as the main bathroom
with bath tub.
A couple of paces across from the entrance to the house is
its large well kept private garden. Shaded by mature trees, the garden which
is fully enclosed and furnished with sun loungers
and table and chairs for dining al fresco, enjoys a fantastic view both of
the swimming pool and of the countryside with San Gimignano visible on the
hill in the distance. The garden is an idyllic spot for relaxing and soaking
up the sun and the view, whilst the large swimming pool just below invites
you to take a refreshing swim.
San Gimignano with its medieval towers, wealth of
monuments, craft shops and excellent restaurants
is only 5km away and a joy to explore. Casa di Gloria is in a convenient
location for visiting all of Tuscany’s major sights, with Siena and Florence
both easily accessible via the road, bus and rail links at nearby Poggibonsi
13km away and Certaldo with its interesting medieval quarter and home of the
famous ‘Mercantia’ craft fair is only 7km down the road. A parking space is
in the grounds of the estate. |
