Villa Sinderanda is a stunning 18th Century villa surrounded by extensive
grounds with centuries old trees and gardens. There is a magnificent
swimming pool and childrens pool, as well as an enclosed veranda for dining.
The villa, which is furnished in classic Tuscan style, retains many of its
original characteristics with fireplaces and frescoed ceilings all being
featured. In a perfect position in the hills close to Siena, Villa
Sinderanda is the perfect choice for larger parties, providing excellent
accomodation, being well located for exploring Tuscany, yet immersed in the
peace and tranquility of the stunning countryside. |

Villa Sinderanda and is divided into
seven suites and a detached communal building. There are a total of
13 bedrooms which will accommodate 26 persons and an extra 4 persons
can be accommodated in extra beds or on settees which convert to
beds. The villa has been carefully restored to preserve its unique
architectural heritage and original fireplaces, wrought iron and
glass doors, terracotta arches and beautifully painted ceilings are
all featured. The suites are all fitted and furnished to a very high
standard in classic Tuscan style and many have there own terraces.
The villa is set in a park of mature trees and surrounded by gardens
and grass lawns. It has a magnificent swimming pool (16m x 8m), and
children’s pool (4m x 4m) furnished with plenty of sunloungers and
umbrellas and a pretty raised terrace with gazebo. There is a lovely
enclosed verandah overlooking the park and swimming pool for general
use. It has tables and chairs for 30 persons and is also used as a
dining room when meals are served. For relaxing inside there is a
communal lounge with settees, armchairs, wood burning fireplace, bar
and study with telephone.
Villa Sinderanda is the perfect location for many an occasion;
meetings, wedding parties, art and cookery courses, reunions or just
a group of family and friends. It lies in verdant countryside only
12km from the town of Siena famous for its fine medieval
architecture and colourful Il Palio horse race. Close by within easy
reach are all of Tuscany’s most important towns including Florence
famous for its art treasures and beautiful shops, San Gimignano,
‘city of the beautiful towers’, Colle di Val d’Elsa, ‘town of
crystal’ and the Etruscan town of Volterra reknowned for its
alabaster.
Close the villa are many picturesque hamlets, home to many
architectural jewels including beautiful romanesque and medieval
churches and ancient castles. It is a beautiful area for taking
country walks and as Villa Sinderanda is on top of a hill over 500
metres high the surrounding area offers some magnificent panoramic
views. There are footpaths meandering through woods and just 1km
away from the villa you will find in the summer time a bar/cafe set
in a chesnut tree wood. At 4km there is an excellent trattoria which
is happy to serve small or large parties and at the villa itself
meals can be arranged (further information and menus available on
request).
The grounds and communal rooms are serviced daily. The communal
laundry room has washing machines, ironing table and iron. There is
ample parking in the enclosed grounds. |

This suite has a large living room which has a traditional wood

comfortable settees. The bedroom with the four poster bed is called
the ‘Blue Room’. This memorable room has frescoes on its ceiling and
walls which have been beautifully restored and a glass door leading
on to the private terrace. The terrace (20sqm) is furnished with
table and chairs and overlooks the garden.

HISTORY
The villa has an interesting history, in medieval times Tegrimo son
of Ildebrando gave a quarter of his lands as a wedding present to
his bride Sinderanda. This included a hamlet and its watchtower.
Over the centuries the hamlet became a large estate owned by a
wealthy Sienese family. In fact this area, known as the Montagnola
Senese, or Sienese mountains, was a popular country retreat for the
rich nobility of Siena, escaping the summer heat of the city to
their cool country villas. The hills are still a popular venue for
locals taking summer picnics in the woods, or for an afternoon of
wild mushroom picking in early autumn. |
