Villa Maretta is a beautiful old Tuscan farmhouse resting on
top of a hill enjoying beautiful views of the surrounding countryside and
the medieval hilltop village of Casole d'Elsa. It has been recently restored
to a very high standard to offer every modern comfort whilst maintaining its
unique architectural heritage as expressed in its terracotta floors,
beautiful arches and beamed ceilings. Furnished most comfortably in
traditional style it is a warm and inviting house, a splendid home for a
memorable holiday. It is 5km by road (or 25 minutes by foot on the country
path) to the picturesque village of Casole d'Elsa which has a bank, post
office, shops, restaurants and bars. Casole d'Elsa, an interesting village
with a rich and ancient past, rests on top of a tall hill commanding
fantastic views of the surrounding countryside. |

The villa has several outstanding
features. Two lounges both with traditional wood
burning fireplaces; one is on the ground floor
and has a vaulted ceiling, large arched window
overlooking the main garden and swimming pool
and a glass door opening on to the side garden,
whilst the other is on the first floor and has a
beamed ceiling and door opening on to a covered
balcony enjoying a beautiful
view and with an outside staircase leading down
to a patio. The large luxury bathroom on the
ground floor has gold plated taps and jacuzzi
corner bath. The luxury kitchen purpose built in
traditional Tuscan style is a joy to cook in and
is separated from the beautiful dining room by
an archway; the dining room has arched windows,
a vaulted ceiling and features a stone wall. The
villa's charming apartment is on the ground
floor and has its own private entrance. It is
also furnished to a high standard with
terracotta floors and beamed ceilings. The glass
door of its living room opens on to a patio and
the glass door of the kitchen opens on to a
second patio overlooking the garden and the
swimming pool.The villa
has its own private garden overlooking the
beautiful swimming pool (12m x 6m) with jacuzzi
pool. The garden has a terrace furnished with a
pergola under which there are table and chairs
for eating outside. There are plenty of sun
loungers and sun umbrellas around the
pool which is only occasionally used by the
owners who live in a completely separate
farmhouse next door to the villa. They are very
nice people and whilst being friendly and
helpful they will not intrude on your privacy.
They are very proud of their villa and their own
beautiful home and keep everything very well
maintained. Four hours
of cleaning per week
are included in the rental
price, on Saturday,
for guests staying two or more weeks.
Parking is in the grounds next
to the villa. The villa is well situated for
visiting the most interesting sights of Tuscany
being only 21km from San Gimignano, 'City of the
Beautiful Towers' and 12km from Colle di Val
d'Elsa 'City of Crystal', where you will find a
large supermarket, lots of shops and
restaurants, a country market on Friday
mornings, a beautiful medieval quarter, and road
and bus links to Florence and Siena making it
fast and easy to visit these famous towns.

PARKING
in San Gimignano: The parking in San Gimignano is all round the
historic centre (access to the historic centre is for residents only). Residents cannot
park in town unless they have their own private parking space. They also have to park
outside the town. Most of the public parking is in pay car parks. These charge by the hour
and are quite expensive. We are able to offer you to park in a private car park at
the price of Euro 25 per week. The use of this car park is not obligatory. If you
decide not to use this car park, you will not have to pay this parking fee. There is free
car parking on the outskirts of the town. You will need to watch the signs carefully as
parking is restricted or not allowed at certain times (e.g road cleaning, local markets,
school pick up times etc). These parking areas are further from the property you are
renting (approx 10 - 15 mins walk) than the private car park we are offering you. Let
us know at the time of reservation if you would like a space in the private car park. The
fee of 25 Euros will be payable locally to the owner of the car park. |
