PARKING
in San Gimignano: The parking in San Gimignano is all round the
historic centre (access to the historic centre is for residents only). Residents cannot
park in town unless they have their own private parking space. They also have to park
outside the town. Most of the public parking is in pay car parks. These charge by the hour
and are quite expensive. We are able to offer you to park in a private car park at
the price of Euro 25 per week. The use of this car park is not obligatory. If you
decide not to use this car park, you will not have to pay this parking fee. There is free
car parking on the outskirts of the town. You will need to watch the signs carefully as
parking is restricted or not allowed at certain times (e.g road cleaning, local markets,
school pick up times etc). These parking areas are further from the property you are
renting (approx 10 - 15 mins walk) than the private car park we are offering you. Let
us know at the time of reservation if you would like a space in the private car park. The
fee of 25 Euros will be payable locally to the owner of the car park. |

Originally a hayloft, Il Vecchio Fienile has
been carefully restored by its attentive owners,
and is now a beautiful detached house surrounded
by its own private garden, and with wonderful
views over vineyards and cypress groves towards
medieval San Gimignano visible in the distance.
Built on a slope, the accommodation is on three
floors, all connected by internal staircases,
but each floor actually opens on to an area of
the garden. The house is fitted and furnished to
an extremely high standard, great care has been
taken to preserve the original characteristics
of the house, there are slanted brick windows in
the spacious bedrooms, terracotta floors, beamed
ceilings and brick archways, all so typical of
Tuscan country architecture. The addition of 3
brand new shower rooms, one on each floor, and 2
fully equipped kitchens ensure modern comfort,
and marry perfectly with the classic furniture.
Both living rooms have comfortable sitting areas
with settees which can also convert to double
beds on request, and the lounge on the ground
floor also has a characteristic fireplace, a
specially commissioned
hand-painted mural
depicting the beautiful landscape, and arched
patio doors which open onto the large patio and
garden.
The house and its garden is in
a lovely position, just off the country road to
Ulignano, it is fully enclosed, and has its own
parking area. Il Vecchio Fienile provides very
high standard accommodation in a much sought
after area of Tuscany, it is only 2km from San
Gimignano and its selection of shops and
excellent local restaurants, and many of the
regions other sights are within easy driving
distance. Florence and Siena are both easily
accessible via main road and rail links from
nearby Poggibonsi, and Volterra, famous for its
alabaster production as well as its wealth of
historic monuments is only 30km away.
