Three Bedroom Three Storey Tower House in Historic
Centre of San Gimignano
Over a thousand year old, La Porta delle Fonti was originally the
gatekeeper’s abode. It is now been transformed into a unique three
storey house situated in a tranquil position on the edge of the
historical town of San Gimignano just a few minutes walk from the
centre. It has a sloping garden area ideal for dining al fresco and
there is also a much coveted parking space.
This unusual house, with beamed ceilings in all of its rooms, is
comfortably furnished in traditional Tuscan style and has a cosy
atmosphere. The owners have retained two lovely fireplaces, one in
the ground floor lounge and the other in the pretty country style
kitchen which is perfect for grilling meats over glowing embers in
true Tuscan style.
The main historic centre of San Gimignano, and its wealth of
monuments, craft shops and restaurants is only 5 minutes walk away
via the medieval lanes, or via a panoramic walkway along the walls
lined with umbrella pines, and dotted with benches. The famous
medieval towers can be viewed above the house and from some of its
windows, as well as on looking up from the house’s garden. The
rustic garden, just a few steps from the house on the other side of
the archway is slightly sloping and runs along the edge of the
walls. It is furnished with table and chairs and is an ideal spot
for relaxing and dining al fresco.
There is a parking space for one car at the bottom of the garden.
Access to this is up a slope and not recommended for low lying cars.
Alternatively you may drop off your luggage at the house, and cars
can then be parked in one of the pay car parks outside the town
walls. A permit to enter the historic centre will be provided on
collecting the apartment keys.
Note: Properties in historic town centres may not be as modernized
as other holiday rentals, due to strict renovation regulations to
retain the original charm and characteristics of the buildings and
their interiors.
