The Santa
Lucia apartments are
situated in a newly
renovated barn just 2.3 kms
from San Gimignano, on the
road that leads to the small
hamlet of the same name. The
barn is divided into just
two lovely apartments, both
of which have been fully
restored to a high standard
with careful attention to
detail. The furnishings and
fittings are all brand new,
however the original
characteristics of the
building, such as slanted
brick windows in the
bedrooms have all been
retained. Both apartments
are furnished in Tuscan
country style, each one is
refreshingly different from
the other, and each have
gardens with lovely views
over the valley below,
crisscrossed with vineyards
and olive groves. Although
Santa Lucia is a tiny
hamlet, it boasts the local
public swimming pool
(normally open mid June to
beginning September), and
tennis courts both of which
are only 5 minutes walk from
the apartments. There is a
local bus service to San
Gimignano running hourly
from 8.00 ? 20.00 or you can
take a leisurely walk
towards the town, where
there are spectacular views
of San Gimignano. In fact
along the panoramic road
there are view points with
benches so you can sit and
enjoy the contrast of the
green countryside, against
the deep blue sky and the
'terracotta coloured' city
of the medieval towers
rising above. Santa Lucia is
an ideal location from which
to explore Tuscany, only 2.3
km from San Gimignano and
its shops, supermarket and
restaurants, and only 30
minutes from Etruscan
Volterra, whilst Poggibonsi
with its road and rail links
is only 13 km away. Parking
is in the grounds. The Santa
Lucia apartments are also a
good choice for a larger
party, together they sleep 4
persons with the possibility
of sleeping an extra 2
persons, and have a
communicating door between
the two apartments.
Il Pino is
a tastefully restored
apartment furnished to a
high standard with homely
wooden furnishings so
typical of Tuscan country
style. The inviting living
room has a lovely country
kitchen area with dining
table and chairs and a
settee which converts to a
bed on request to
accommodate a third
person. The locally tiled
shower room is brand new and
the cosy bedroom with its
lovely wrought iron bed,
still retains the slanted
brick decoration on the
windows which is such a
lovely feature of
Tuscan
barn restorations. The
apartment is surrounded by
pots of flowers, and from
the garden there are lovely
views of the valley beyond.
The garden which is
furnished with table,
chairs, sun
recliners and pergola
is the perfect spot dining
al fresco, or you can relax,
soak up the sun, or enjoy
the view under the shade of
the tall pine tree from
which the apartment takes
its name.

PARKING
in San Gimignano: The parking in San Gimignano is all round the
historic centre (access to the historic centre is for residents only). Residents cannot
park in town unless they have their own private parking space. They also have to park
outside the town. Most of the public parking is in pay car parks. These charge by the hour
and are quite expensive. We are able to offer you to park in a private car park at
the price of Euro 25 per week. The use of this car park is not obligatory. If you
decide not to use this car park, you will not have to pay this parking fee. There is free
car parking on the outskirts of the town. You will need to watch the signs carefully as
parking is restricted or not allowed at certain times (e.g road cleaning, local markets,
school pick up times etc). These parking areas are further from the property you are
renting (approx 10 - 15 mins walk) than the private car park we are offering you. Let
us know at the time of reservation if you would like a space in the private car park. The
fee of 25 Euros will be payable locally to the owner of the car park. |
