PARKING in San Gimignano: The parking in San Gimignano is all round the historic centre (access to the historic centre is for residents only). Residents cannot park in town unless they have their own private parking space. They also have to park outside the town. Most of the public parking is in pay car parks. These charge by the hour and are quite expensive. We are able to offer you to park in a private car park at the price of Euro 25 per week. The use of this car park is not obligatory. If you decide not to use this car park, you will not have to pay this parking fee. There is free car parking on the outskirts of the town. You will need to watch the signs carefully as parking is restricted or not allowed at certain times (e.g road cleaning, local markets, school pick up times etc). These parking areas are further from the property you are renting (approx 10 - 15 mins walk) than the private car park we are offering you. Let us know at the time of reservation if you would like a space in the private car park. The fee of 25 Euros will be payable locally to the owner of the car park.

Three Bedroom Detached Cottage:

At Il Rudere there is a classic 200 year old Tuscan farmhouse and barn which have been carefully restored to their original splendour, hence the accommodation boasts beamed ceilings, terracotta floors, arches, and all that makes Tuscan country architecture unique in the world. I Cipressi is a lovely cottage which has been converted from the freestanding barn whilst the farmhouse has been divided into three apartments, one in which the owner resides, the other two, one with one bedroom, the other with two bedrooms, which are also rented (details available on request).

I Cipressi is a charming cottage, built into the slope of a hill, and standing on its own close to the swimming pool. It is fitted and furnished to a very high standard with its terracotta floors, beamed ceilings and archways all lending it a traditional Tuscan atmosphere. All the cottage's windows enjoy pleasant views of the surrounding countryside and its spacious lounge has large arched glass doors opening on to its private terrace (100sqm) which was once many years ago the threshing floor of the farmhouse. The terrace enjoys fine views and is furnished with an enormous sun umbrella, sun recliners, table and chairs for dining outside and there is a barbecue for guests use. From the terrace there is a short path leading through the garden to the lovely swimming pool.

The swimming pool (13m x 6m) is in a particularly beautiful position set into a slope slightly above the farmhouse and has lots of space around it for relaxing and sunbathing. It is bordered by a round sun terrace, a shrubbery of traditional Mediterranean plants including rosemary, lavender, olive and strawberry trees and a sloping terrace of roses.

Il Rudere is in a tranquil position enjoying fine views of the surrounding countryside with sunflower fields, hills and woods, and from the entrance (protected by an electric bar) to its private drive lined with cypress trees one can see the medieval towers of San Gimignano. The landscaped gardens are very well cared for with lots of plants and flowers, and the owners are kind and helpful whilst not intruding on your privacy. Covered parking is close to the cottage in the grounds of Il Rudere.

Perfectly placed in the countryside of the Elsa Valley, Il Rudere is halfway between the medieval towns of San Gimignano and Colle di Val d’Elsa, which are both only 5kms away. They are lovely towns to explore and have a wide selection of shops and restaurants. There is an open air bar/cafe within walking distance, and Poggibonsi, with its rail, bus and road links to Florence and Siena is only 7km away, making Tuscany’s major sights easily accessible.
