Le Colonne is a beautiful farmhouse on a small wine and olive oil producing estate, which has been recently restored and now forms three spacious apartments, one of which is the owner's second home, the other two No 8 San Matteo and No 9 San Giovanni which he rents. There are fantastic views from all sides of the house, with the towers of San Gimignano in front and the beautiful Elsa valley to the side. Just off the road from San Gimignano to Certaldo, the farmhouse is only 900m from the San Matteo gateway into medieval San Gimignano 'the city of towers' making it the perfect location for exploring the town's craft shops, historic monuments and famous piazzas. There are a selection of restaurants within walking distance and the nearest general food shop is only 500m away.

San Matteo, aptly named after one of the ancient gateways to the town, is a bright and spacious apartment on the first floor of Le Colonne farmhouse and with its entrance by outside staircase leading up from the garden. The spacious living room, has fantastic views of the towers from its windows, and is nicely furnished in country style, with wooden floors and many of the owners own possessions and paintings. The beautiful grounds of the farmhouse are very well kept and the apartment has its own area in the garden furnished with table and chairs for dining and relaxing outside whilst taking in the spectacular panorama and sipping a glass of San Gimignano's famous Vernaccia white wine, which the estate also produces. The grounds, full of plants and flowers, look towards the medieval towers of the town and beyond are surrounded by vineyards and olive groves. There are sun reclining chairs and a barbecue and parking is in the grounds next to the house.

There is a public swimming pool at Santa Lucia only 3km from the town and Castelfalfi with its international golf course and hill top open air swimming pool is less than half an hour's drive. For those wishing to go further a field, the train and road links at Poggibonsi just 12km down the road make Tuscany's famous sights easily accessible.
