Surrounded on all sides
by its own gardens and enjoying lovely views Casa dell' Orto is
conveniently situated along the country road from San Gimignano to
the little village of Ulignano. In the village, a walk of just 1km
away, there is a grocery shop, bakers, bank, post office, bar and
restaurant. The medieval town of San Gimignano with its historic
monuments, many craft shops, restaurants, supermarket and open air
swimming pool is only 6km away. All the
accommodation is on the ground floor of the villa, on the first
floor there is another apartment which is not used by the owner. The
owner, however, does visit the villa regularly to tend the grounds
and his 'orto' vegetable garden from which he will be happy to offer
you vegetables in season. He has lovingly restored the villa taking
great care to preserve its unique architectural heritage as can be
seen in its beautiful vaulted ceilings of terracotta. The villa is
tastefully furnished in traditional style to a high standard. There
is lots of space for relaxing both inside in the comfortable living
room in front of the traditional wood burning fireplace and outdoors
in the well tended gardens surrounding the villa which are full of
plants and trees. The glass doors of the kitchen/dining room lead on
to the terrace which enjoys a fine view of the countryside and is
furnished with table and chairs for dining alfresco. There are sun
recliners and a barbecue. Parking is next
to the villa in its own grounds. The town of Poggibonsi with its
rail and road links to Florence and Siena is only 8km away making it
very easy to visit these famous towns.
