When we think about the Alps, Switzerland comes to mind with its typical villages dominated by mountain peaks. Switzerland offers many top ranking ski resorts with good snow and skiing conditions and excellent hotels and chalets.
THE MAIN SKI RESORTS IN SWITZERLAND:
Name Overall Rating  /10 Description
Andermatt 6 This resort is similar to Zermatt and Saas-Fee but much smaller and more compact. It has very reliable snow conditions.
Arosa 6 It is a good choice if you don't want to ski every day as there are many non ski activities.
Champery 8 Swiss entry to the Portes du Soleil with its hundreds of miles of pistes. Picturesque old resort. Quiet. Many wide-open slopes.
Chateau-d'Oex 8 This resort is part of the Gstaad Superski Pass, which covers miles of pistes (Gstaad, Rougemont, Saanenmoeser, the Diableret Glacier etc.)
Crans-Montana 8 This is an excellent resort in the French part of Switzerland. Very good for intermediates.
Davos 10 Another excellent resort for intermediate and advanced skiers. The ski domain is huge. The resort is not a classic Alpine village.
Les Diablerets 6 It is a small, pretty mountain village which can be described as upscale. The village itself is low in altitude which may prevent skiing into the village.
Engelberg 6 This is another low in altitude village with a good variety of restaurants and bars. This is a traditional resort with moderate skiing.
Flims/Laax 8 Two neighboring resorts with a common ski area. The resort is especially good for intermediates.
Grindelwald 6 A sophisticated resort dominated by the Eiger mountain. Again, very good for intermediates.
Gstaad 6 A resort popular with the rich and famous. It is a pretty Alpine village and skiing is moderate. Prices are high.
Klosters 8 This is a resort chosen by many celebrities (you may see Prince Charles...). The skiing is excellent for intermediates and advanced.
Saas-Fee 8 The resort is a smaller version of Zermatt (accessible by road but traffic free). The skiing is great for intermediates. Many good hotels.
St. Moritz 10 Good resort especially for expert skiiers. The views over the frozen lake are beautiful. There are many fine restaurants and luxury hotels and many things to do after skiing.
Verbier 10 A charming resort, with many chalets and apartments. Strongly recommended for advanced skiers. Famous for its off-piste skiing.
Villars 6 A good resort for beginners and intermediates. Very popular with the British.
Wengen 8 One of the prettiest ski resorts in Switzerland. It can be reached only by mountain railway. Good for all levels of skiers.
Zermatt 10 This is Switzerland's best all-round resort. This is a traffic free resort dominated by the beautiful Matterhorn summit. Very good for intermediates and advanced. Linked to Cervinia in Italy.
